2017 WILLOUGHBY LAKE BOAT PARADE

Event date: Tuesday, July 4, 2017

The 18th annual Willoughby Lake Boat Parade will be held on Tuesday, July 4 at 3:00 p.m. with “Your Favorite Vacation” as the theme. Participants will be judged on decorations, enthusiasm and the following of the theme. The 1stplace winners will receive a trophy, along with $50. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded trophies. To be eligible for a prize, boats must be at the starting point at Crescent Beach by 2:30 p.m. and must have a number displayed on their boat, that has been provided to you. This will enable the judges to identify and judge you on criteria above. Please call 413-758-3564 or email [email protected] to Register. Boats will meet at Crescent Beach by 2:30 pm, on the west side of the lake. The parade will proceed north along the west shore, cross the north beach, and travel south along the east shore ending at “Trails End”, where the winners will be announced and trophies presented. No rain date is planned at this time.

The 2017 Annual Meeting and Pot Luck Supper/Time & Talent Auction will be held Thursday July 27th, 2017 starting at 5pm

2017 July Concert

The Westmore Association Picnic/Concert on the Green featuring Li’l Deb & Big Wind will be held July 9th, 2017 from 4-7pm

The 17th annual Willoughby Lake Boat Parade will be held on Sunday, July 3rd at 3:00 p.m. with “Christmas in July” as the theme. Participants are judged on decorations, creativity, enthusiasm, and following theme. The 1st place winners will receive a trophy, along with $50. The 2nd and 3rd place winners will be awarded trophies. To be eligible for a prize, boats must be at the starting point by 2:30 p.m. to register and receive a number that the judges will be able to identify you by. To pre-register, sign up as a judge, obtain more information, and to be sure to receive notification of any last minute changes after registering, please call 413-758-3564 or email [email protected] Boats will meet off Crescent Beach, on the west side of the lake. Family Night: Fun & Games

Join Professor Ben t. Matchstick, founder of the Cardboard Teck Instantute, for an evening of family fun. The secrets of cardboard bending will be revealed and guest will be able to play with CTI’s newest invention, the PinBox 3000, an all-cardboard constructed tabletop pinball machine that can be customized by the players. Professor Matchstick will also perform with his kamishibai stage.  Kamishibai, a portable picture storytelling theatre, had its origin is a in Japanese street theater. Family Night: Music, Laughter and…a Pie Auction!!

Modern Times Theater is duo entertainment at its best. Husband and wife performers Justin Lander and Rose Friedman will delight the audience with a fresh take on the entertainment styles of the past, including pantomime, puppetry and novelty music! The program features the musical wonders of the shepherds crook, cornet, cigar box ukulele,and bicycle pump. Lander and Friedman are alumni of the Bread and Puppet Theater and co-founders of Vermont’s premier vaudeville troupe, Vermont Vaudeville. Don’t miss the Pie Auction to be held during the show!! Natural Beauty: Appreciating Willoughby

Join us for an informative evening about caring for and enhancing the natural beauty we enjoy every day.This evening presents an opportunity to learn more about two of our natural treasures, Willoughby Lake and the Willoughby State Forest. Jean Haigh, past president of the Green Mountain Club will present on the hiking opportunities of our region and the newest developments in the Willoughby State Forest. Bruce Tanner, geologist, will talk about the natural – and unique – rock formations at Willoughby Lake and the surrounding area. There will be a chance to ask questions of both speakers. Inaugural Westmore Plein Air Competition

The Westmore Association and and the WilloughVale Inn, in conjunction with Plein Air Northeast Kingdom, are pleased to announce a Plein Air Paintout and Competition on Saturday, August 8, 2015. This event is open to all artists painting in any medium using plein air technique. Participating artists must paint original works on location (Willoughby Lake area) during the event. The event is free to artists and will offer awards including cash prizes. Sites will be identified and a map will be provided for artists and the public. Award of prizes and final showing with optional purchase will be held at the WilloughVale Inn on Sunday August , 2015, 1-3 PM.
